More expensive to fly to Rome and Milan from Comiso, cancel the special fares

From today, flights in territorial continuity at the Comiso airport have been suspended. The service, in fact, was managed by Alitalia. There are no longer any discounted flights for residents in Sicily to Rome and Milan (38 euros for Rome, 50 euros for Milan, in addition to airport taxes). There are no more planes leaving for Rome, the connections to Milan will continue to be guaranteed by Ryanair which covers the routes to Milan Malpensa and Bergamo Orio al Serio.

The Ministry of Transport, ENAC and the Sicilian Region have prepared three calls for expressions of interest, in order to cover the service in the next seven months and have invited the airlines currently operating in Sicily to participate. The calls have gone deserted. Now we are working on the new call that could restart the service in the spring and in which Ita, the company that took over from Alitalia, will also be able to participate.
For territorial continuity, 25 million had been allocated for three years. The service started on December 18, but with a reduced number of flights. There were two daily return flights to Rome and one daily return flight to Milan and the Night Stop mode, i.e. the aircraft housing in Comiso so as to be able to activate the departing flight already in the morning, with return evening and with hours therefore useful for professionals and commercial operators.
