More corona patients in hospitals after five days of declines, again less than 30,000 new corona cases Inland

On Mondays, these numbers are often higher than the rest of the week, because fewer patients are discharged on weekends. There are currently 1,308 corona patients in the nursing wards, 118 more than on Sunday. In the intensive care units, this number actually decreased, from 7 to 162.

In the past 24 hours, 107 new corona patients were admitted to the nursing wards. 10 patients with corona were brought in on the ICUs.

Some of the admitted patients who tested positive for the coronavirus were admitted primarily for another cause. This could be people with heart problems or stomach complaints, for example. After doing a corona test, they happen to be positive. The LCPS makes no distinction in the daily hospital figures between patients admitted with or because of corona.

Amsterdam is the only municipality to have more than a thousand positive tests. In the capital, 1,375 residents were told that the corona virus was found in them. Utrecht and Groningen both had 720 positive tests. 605 infections came to light in Rotterdam and 478 in The Hague. There were no positive tests on Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog.

In the past seven days, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) received 243,941 reports of positive tests. That is the lowest weekly total since January 18. On average, there were 34,849 positive tests per day in the past week. The average falls for the sixteenth day in a row and is a quarter lower than last week.

The number of reports of deaths is also falling. In the past day, RIVM received a message that six people have died as a result of their corona infection. It concerns residents of the municipalities of Groningen, Maastricht, Nieuwegein, Vijfheerenlanden, Heerde and Vaals. The fact that the death of these people has now been registered does not mean that they died within the past day. In addition, the actual number of deaths may be higher, as it is not mandatory to report that a corona patient has died from the infection.

In the past week, 65 deaths were recorded, an average of about nine a day. That is the lowest level since Feb. 10.

Two years and a day ago, someone in the Netherlands tested positive for the corona virus for the first time. On Monday, the counter stands at 6,361,626 confirmed infections and 21,554 registered deaths. The actual numbers are higher.
