More Arrests at Boston and Revere Beaches Over the Weekend – NBC Boston

Thousands of people flocked to Massachusetts beaches in this weekend’s wet weather, and police were busy with crowds along the shoreline.

Thunder and torrential rain in South Boston cleared parts of Carson Beach, but the beach was packed before the storm hit Sunday.

The rain brought some cooler temperatures after the thermometer was soaring all weekend. But the weather caused crowd control problems.

Hundreds of people gathered on Carson Beach in South Boston with state police keeping a close eye on the action.

Patrols intensified after thousands of beachgoers at Revere Beach and Carson Beach turned out Saturday, resulting in fights, disorderly behavior, fireworks and underage drinking.

Twelve people were arrested Saturday, on charges ranging from domestic battery to operating under the influence and unlawful possession of a knife, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Officers say they were met with violence and disrespect on Saturday with beachgoers refusing to disperse after countless fights broke out and crowds became a major security issue.

Some of the officers were attacked while making arrests.

State police said four more arrests were made Sunday in Carson Beach as many in the crowd again engaged in disorderly conduct. Three minors and one adult were arrested on Sunday and the charges included assault and battery as well as disorderly conduct.

One more arrest was made Sunday at Revere Beach, where the crowd was thinner than Saturday. That person was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.
