More and more sanctions from the US and Russia to attack Ukraine

Sanctions imposed on Russia by more and more Western countries. Recently, the United States has imposed sanctions on a number of officials Russiaincluding 3 family members of the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As reported ReutersSaturday (12/3/2022), those who are subject to the latest sanctions announced by the US Treasury Department on Friday (11/3) local time include 10 people from VTB Bank – Russia’s second largest borrower and 12 members of the Duma or lower house in Russian parliament.

“The Treasury continues to hold Russian officials accountable for permitting (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s unjustified and unwarranted war,” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has been under US sanctions since March 3. In its announcement, the US imposed new sanctions on Peskov’s wife and two adult children.

“They lead a lavish lifestyle that does not match the salaries of civil servants Peskov receives,” the US Treasury said in a statement.

Even so, the Russian side has not commented on this.

Four members of the Novikombank board, including its Chair Elena Georgieva, and ABR Management and four of its board members, including Bank Rossiya Director Dmitri Lebedev and St Petersburg Deputy Governor Vladimir Knyaginin were also sanctioned.

In mid-February, Russia’s lower house of parliament voted to ask Putin to recognize Ukraine’s two separatist regions as independent states. The speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, and 11 of its members were added to the sanctions list on Friday (11/3) local time.

“Today’s determination is intended to further account for the actors directly responsible for Russia’s unlawful and unlawful confessions … and facilitate the false pretext that Putin uses to justify … the unwarranted war against Ukraine,” the ministry added. US Finance.
