More and more Romanians living in Spain complain about the difficult life in this country. Maintenance costs amount to 1,800 euros/month.
Approximately 880,000 Romanians live in Spain, but many others are not officially registered, so the real number may be higher, according to B1 TV.
Some of them complained on the “Romanians in Spain” group, hosted by Facebook, that it was getting harder and harder.
“What is the monthly cost for a decent life in Spain, plus or minus? I know there are differences depending on the area, but roughly. Considering that you have bought a house, so no rent. It’s about two people 65+, so we don’t want to work anymore. Let’s just walk around and stay in a country where it’s as safe as possible. In Romania, too much sloppiness, trickery, insensitivity and aggressiveness have been reached. We want to come to Spain once for a longer period, to see how it goes. I visited Castellon and Valencia in 2009. Thanks again and happy life to all! Maybe we’ll turn to you to find a rental for 2-3 months, when the need arises”, wrote a Romanian on that group.
And the answers were not long in coming, with other compatriots giving details of their monthly expenses. Most complained about electricity, gas and water bills:
- “Only electricity, per month, came to me €400.”
- “546, at 2 months, and only 2 hours of heat we let him go at night”
- “For me, gas, for 2 months €420.”
- “Honestly, I who hear you live on 1,000 euros decently don’t know what to say, only if you eat soup for a week.”
- “Decent depends on everyone! It depends on whether you have children, what installments you have, etc., to pay €200 for expenses, €400 to spend on food (on the principle that we Romanians generally cook a lot) and still have €400 left for one more.
- If decent for you is restaurants, going out and shopping at the mall every weekend, I’m clearly not getting there.”
- “Family of 3, food 500-600, electricity, 150-200, water 80 per 2-3 months, private insurance 50-80 per person per month.
- About the strict necessary around 1,200-1,800 euros, without any kind of restaurant, plates, etc. To which we add car expenses, fuel, itv, insurance. As well as home insurance, tax and community charges if applicable. Medicines, because if you go through private insurance… you will pay for them. And the food has gotten way too expensive and I don’t think it’s in the 600 range anymore, not to mention we’re adding detergents and cosmetics.”
- “Me, with everything I have to pay monthly (house/car/insurance/etc), without bills and going out to restaurants, about 1,800-2,200 euros for a family of 3 people with a mortgage. Now it also depends on the area where you live, it also depends on how much you want to spend, it also depends on what comfort means to you, probably the girl will read the messages and make an average and that’s it.”
