Recently, more and more publications appear in the Russian information space about the heroic clergy of Russia entering the war. What are the reasons for this?
In the TV24 program “The current situation about the war in Ukraine” Jānis Slaidins points out that there are 3 main reasons for such clergy involvement.
The first reason: Russians may gradually stop believing the myth of the existence of fascists in Ukraine, so the Kremlin’s propaganda apparatus urgently needs to create another reason to mobilize and crusade against Ukraine.
The second reason: the Kremlin realizes that it has lost its propaganda centers in Ukraine. A month ago, there were widespread searches of churches in Ukraine, where agents were found.
The elimination of the residency of the Russian Federal Security Service has contributed to the decline of Russian influence over the people of Ukraine. Previously, great emphasis was placed on the Orthodox Church, spreading its propaganda through it with considerable success.
And the third reason: the fact that the church is not separated from politics in Russia will be confirmed once again. The Russian Orthodox Church is a weapon in the hands of the Kremlin. It has been like this for a long time.
Another fact pointed out by Slaidiņš is also interesting – 19 pastors of the Orthodox Church have already been awarded Russian orders for their participation in the war. This is not a small number.
