After the end of the trial run of the “Amtix short” route, Darmstadt wants to work for a new departure route. In Erzhausen they fear an even more northerly route.
After the decision of the German Air Traffic Control (DFS) to stop the trial operation on the new departure route “Amtix short” for security reasons, the community of Erzhausen feels confirmed in its negative attitude. The city of Darmstadt wants to work for a “new and sustainable departure route” in order to permanently reduce aircraft noise in the north of the city by relocating the take-off route.
On Monday and Tuesday, planes destined for Munich or airports in Southeast Asia flew over the Darmstadt districts of Arheilgen and Kranichstein, so that there was again more aircraft noise than in the past three months.
Since the beginning of November, the planes had been traveling on a more northerly route on a trial basis, so that the Wixhausen district and the municipalities of Egelsbach, Erzhausen and Messel were more affected by aircraft noise. But that’s over now, because planes taking off and landing at Messel could get in each other’s way.
According to Klaus Süllow (Greens), who is an alderman on the municipality board in Erzhausen, the decision by DFS saves the municipality time and legal costs. Because if the new “Amtix short” route had not been stopped, the community would have filed a lawsuit against the relocation of the route with the Hessian Administrative Court in the first quarter.
In Erzhausen it is now feared that the city of Darmstadt will plead for the departure route to be moved further north and thus even closer to Erzhausen. Süllow hopes, however, “that the security-conscious DFS will not let that get away with”.
