Mora reaches highest temperature in April of the last 78 years

The village of Mora, in the district of Évora, reached 36.9 degrees of temperature yesterday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, the highest value recorded in April in mainland Portugal in 78 years.

This new record surpasses the previous maximum of 36 degrees recorded in April 1945 in Pinhão, in the municipality of Alijó, in the Douro valley. There were even five more places where the thermometers surpassed the previous record of 36 degrees. Amareleja (36.7ºC), Neves Corvo (36.5ºC), Alcácer do Sal (36.3ºC), Alvalade/Sado (36.2ºC) and Portel (36.1ºC).

According to the IPMA, in 45% of meteorological stations the maximum values ​​for April were exceeded yesterday.
