Since 1981 Moots Cycles – the small, fine bike forge from Steamboat / Colorado – has been producing high-quality Made in USA frames in the finest craftsmanship (first from steel and then from titanium). And all that without frills with welded seams of the highest precision as well as (titanium) frame tubes with a matt, elegant surface structure that make a Moots frame so special. This year the premium niche provider celebrates its 40th anniversary.
When titanium frame lovers hear the name moots, they tend to speak admiringly of “there are titanium bikes and there are moots”. The US forge has made a name for itself not only in its home country, but also worldwide as one of the leading titanium frame producers, less in terms of quantity but in terms of processing. The provider also went through ups and downs.
On its 40th anniversary this year, the provider promises to »continue to build on the legacy of quality that this brand has developed over such a long period«. In addition, all Moots bikes built in 2021 will be equipped with a head tube anniversary emblem. This “Limited Edition 40th Anniversary Moots Headbadge” (see top right and 1st picture below) is in itself a work of art. For those who cannot necessarily afford a new bike for the 40th Moots Cycles, the supplier has a few more 40th anniversary products in its Moots online shop (T-shorts, jerseys, cap, bottle opener – the latter see 2nd picture below) on offer. This is to be expanded in the course of the year.
The niche brand is therefore starting the anniversary year 2021 with a plan to celebrate all year round. “It’s a celebration for our customers who have supported our work for 40 years, a celebration of thanks for our dealers, and a celebration for every single person who worked at Moots and went about their craft to build the best possible bikes. Over the years, we have really had a special crew of employees and we are forever grateful to them all, ”says the company headquarters and production facility in Steamboat. Moots Cycles owner Brent Whittington again explicitly points out that all bikes are built in Steamboat – and not “just designed and assembled”.
In addition, in the anniversary year 2021, Moots will fill its blogs and social media with memories of its own past “and highlight the things we do today”.
Ultimately, Whittington explains, “I am only the third Moots owner in 40 years and I am honored to be part of this team. But I also feel enormous pressure to continue the legacy. This pressure drives us to get better every day and to keep quality first in everything we do at Moots. I am so grateful for all the support our drivers, dealers and employees have given over the years! «
More information about the US niche brand at www.moots.com. Incidentally, in Germany the brand does not roll through an importer, but directly to currently six selected bicycle dealers (see here). There are three specialist bicycle dealers in Switzerland (see here) that can serve the local Moots community. In Austria, on the other hand, there is currently no specialist bicycle dealer on tour with Moots Cycles.
