Moonwalkers: Want to walk faster in everyday life?

This sounds like something from the ‘Back to the Future’ movie saga, but they are really real, and by all indications, they have immense potential to make a splash in our day-to-day lives. We are talking about a kind of skates that fit into your daily shoes, which in turn allow you to “walk” faster, with a lot of safety.

Stairs, descents, ascents, everything is easier. But they are expensive!

Moonwalkers: Want to walk faster in everyday life?

Therefore, we are talking about a product designed by Shift Roboticswhich allows anyone to travel at 11 km/h! That is, three times faster than the stride of a “normal human being”.

That said, despite some technology implemented, to the naked eye, Moonwalkers are nothing more than skates that fit into any shoe.

However, unlike a regular pair of skates, these stop smartly, or when you want them to. (They stop on stairs, serving as normal footwear. They slow down on descents, and stop with some predefined movements).

For example, imagine that you want to get on a bus or a train, just lift your heel, and the wheels completely block. To reconnect, just lift your heel again, and make a circular motion with your foot.

Where did this idea come from?

According to the founder of Shift (Xunjie Zhang), the idea came to his head after an accident on his scooter while on his way to work.

All with the aim of offering something safer, easier to use, and of course, more convenient. In addition to all this, it is a product that also tries to be more environmentally friendly. Interestingly, according to the CEO, no learning is required, thanks to an AI system capable of learning the way the user walks in just 10 steps. It’s basically put on and go!

In short, the idea is to make the traditional “walk” significantly faster! How much does it cost? Well… they are not cheap! Since we are talking about something like 1400$.
