NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) – South Korean President Moon Jae-in will embark on a new round of diplomacy linked to the Covid-19 vaccine in the United States on Tuesday, according to his office.

He plans to meet Albert Bourla, President and CEO of Pfizer, while he is traveling here for an annual session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN).

Moon will also attend a ceremony to sign a vaccine cooperation agreement between South Korea and the United States, which will be joined by relevant trade representatives from both sides.

The event follows the deal made at Moon’s White House summit with President Joe Biden in May to establish a global partnership for KORUS vaccines. It aims to strengthen the joint response capacities of allies to infectious diseases through international vaccine cooperation, including scientific and technological cooperation.

Moon is also expected to have a bilateral summit with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the sidelines of the UN session and deliver a speech at the UN meeting.
