Moon music and poetry: Meditative concert featuring MoonBach and Rēzija Kalniņa

On Friday, August 18, at 7 p.m. in Ventspils concert hall “Latvija” the meditative concert program “Moon music and poetry” will feature atmospheric music and Persian poetry, Maruta Eistere, marketing specialist of SIA “Kurzemes Philharmonia” informed LETA agency.

The duo “MoonBach” (Germany) – violinist Azade Magsodi of Iranian origin and pianist Andis Paegle will play music, while actress Rēzija Kalniņa will complement the mood of the concert with Persian poetry.

The program created especially for the “Latvija” concert hall will combine the themes of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions with Persian and Latvian musical improvisations, reaching as far as the works of Astor Piacolla and jazz arrangements.

says Eister.

The duet “MoonBach” was formed in 2019, when Paegle, while studying harpsichord and church music at the Lübeck University of Music, met Magsodi. The two musicians teamed up to perform familiar musical codes of JS Bach (1685-1750), HIF Bieber (1644-1706) and other composers in a new sound, adding newly created elements of jazz, improvised and experimental music.

The duet “MoonBach” and Rēzija Kalniņa formed a wonderful collaboration – Iranian poetry is close to the actress and her poetry readings naturally intertwine with the music played by the project, says the representative of the concert organizers.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the “Latvija” concert hall and at all “Biļešu paradīze” outlets.

The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija”, the event is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the municipality of Ventspils.
