A Russian astronaut captured a strange scene of the moment of a full moon sunset behind Earth’s atmosphere from the International Space Station.
–
The Russian astronaut, Sergey Kud-Svershkov, documented a very beautiful phenomenon that occurs at the sunset of the full moon due to its passage through the Earth’s atmosphere.
This phenomenon causes the moon’s shape to deform at sunset, a phenomenon described by the astronaut as a “moon melting” scene. The astronaut explained the reason for the strange “flat” shape of the moon, saying: “Before the moon disappears behind the horizon, its reflected light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere and is deformed.”
Cod Sverchekov noted that the Earth’s horizon itself is not visible at the same time, because the filming took place at night and “therefore, it appears that the moon is melting in the air in a magical way.” according to RT.
