Mook Reception Ship Ready to Accommodate Ukrainian Refugees Following Weir Issues in Grave

Sep 04, 2023 at 9:49 PM Update: 3 hours ago

The reception ship for Ukrainians that suddenly had to leave Mook on Friday due to problems with the weir in Grave has been moored in the village since Monday afternoon. Ukrainians can be accommodated on the ship from Wednesday. There is room for a hundred Ukrainian refugees.

Problems arose with the weir in Grave on Friday. As a result, the water of the Maas near Mook dropped very quickly. The shelter ship was then urgently moved to the village of Heijen. That is south of Mook.

The problems with the weir were resolved on Sunday. The Maas water rose again and the ship was able to return to Mook. There it is now being prepared for the arrival of the refugees from the war zone.

Originally, the first Ukrainians were supposed to arrive on the boat on Tuesday, but due to the problems with the weir, that reception has been moved up a day. The reception will take place in phases, says the municipality.
