Final Fantasy and card or board games – since “Blood of the Queen” in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, things have become a little closer together again for Final Fantasy fans. Now there are supplies!
The one that debuted in Japan this summer Final Fantasy: Moogle Bounty Mayhem appears here in the West. This is evident from a product page in the local Square Enix store, which even calls the game a “German edition”.
However, patience is required. The Japanese title of the game is The Six Moogle Siblings’ Mob Hunt and gives a pretty good idea of what it’s about: The six Moogle siblings from the original game Final Fantasy XII are the stars of the board game evening. The card-based game contains motifs from them.
Each of the siblings has different special abilities and in the game they compete for the mob hunts. There is also something for the eye: the motifs are new illustrations by Ryoma Ito, who was also involved in Final Fantasy XII.
There are also hero cards for Vaan, Penelo and Co. as well as monster cards, including Yiazmat. There are also around 60 regular battle cards and tokens that symbolize status values such as fatigue. The board game is designed for two to four players, with one round lasting around 15 minutes.

Square Enix only released Final Fantasy VII: Materia Hunter in this country in May. What is called a board game is more of a card game. But that didn’t dampen the fans’ joy.
