Monumental live rock opera inspired by John Milton’s classic: “Paradise Lost. The tragedy of Lucifer

The La Vaca Multicolor Cultural Association in co-production with the British Theater is presenting, for a short season, “Paraíso Perdido. The Tragedy of Lucifer”, a conceptual work inspired by the classic by John Milton, with the adaptation and general direction of the renowned theater actor Fernando Luque.

In PARAÍSO PERDIDO we will delve into a masterful rock opera performed by Clavel, a Peruvian progressive rock band, founded and directed by Fernando Luque, its vocalist. Along with them we will be presented with the story of Lucifer, who, resentful of God for not having received the position of prince of heaven, begins a rebellion of angels in order to dethrone the Almighty. However, because he fails and is condemned to wander through hell, Lucifer decides to take revenge with the aim of perverting and corrupting God’s last most sublime creation: the human being.

Thus, we are witnesses of the origin of evil, the ultimate cause why human beings feel separated from existence and which causes so much suffering. “This work is much more than a simple show; It is an immersion in a dream world where music and poetry intertwine to transmit a powerful story that keeps the viewer in suspense from start to finish. It is an exciting and captivating experience where we invite the entire audience to explore the ambition, temptation and consequences of our choices in a pure theatrical context full of emotion and anticipation” tells us the director of the play, Fernando Luque.

“John Milton allows us to investigate the origins of the most fundamental emotions of human beings. Lucifer, Adam, Eve, God, the archangel Michael, serve as archetypes through which we can glimpse the essence of resentment, resentment, envy, anger, pride, weakness, as well as virtue, temperance, sublimity and divinity that the human soul can achieve. In this way, Paradise Lost reaches one of the highest levels of Western literature, becoming a monumental work.”

The musicalization is in charge of the members of Clavel: Luis Felipe Ortega (drums), Renzo Solimano (bass), Roberto Rodriguez (guitar), Andres Herrera (piano) and Fernando Luque (voice). They are also accompanied by José Carlos Amézaga as second guitar.

To enlarge the poetic potential of the play the staging is with a choir formed by a group of young professional actors: Veronica Infantes, Akemi Toma, Francesco Bacilio, Maria Fernanda Misajel, Jose Soto, Ana Paula Galvez, Hanks Sarmiento, Katia Uriol, Nick Thin, Valeria Fumagalli, Manuel Valdiviezo, Rommileth Coronado and Fabian Suni.

The set design is in charge of María Hillaje, the costumes by Roberto Rodríguez, sound by Andrés Herrera, the composition by Andrés Herrera and Roberto Rodríguez, the choreography design by José Subauste, the sound engineering by Renzo Lecca, the art direction by Guillermo Palacios and support in the lighting design by Jorge Garro. In addition, there will be the participation of Volcano as a guest band. Directing assistance by Luciana González, executive production by Paola Terán and Fernando Luque, general production of La Vaca Multicolor. General direction of Fernando Luque.
