Montrezl Harrell to play in Australia

Montrezl Harrell has temporarily closed the door on the NBA and will head to the Australian league, where he will play with the Adelaide 36ers on a short-term contract, reports Olgun Uluc of ESPN.

The 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year joins the team to fill the shoes of another NBA player like Jarell Martin, who is still recovering from a patellar tendon injury that could keep him out of action until the end of the year.

Harrell has spent eight years in the NBA, the last of which was the 2022-23 season, which he spent with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per night. The Pennsylvania organization decided to release him in October after the player underwent knee surgery in August 2023 after suffering a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus.

Having had an up-and-down career in the American competition, his best performance came with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2019-20 season, in which he averaged up to 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. In total, he has played 515 regular season games, averaging 12.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game.
