Montreal unveils its new women’s football franchise called “Roses” which will play in the Northern Super League

In 2025, Canada will have its own professional women’s football league with the launch of the “Northern Super League” (NSL).

For the first season, 6 clubs will take part in this competition including a new team based in Montreal.

For the Quebec franchise, the managers and co-founders Isabèle Chevalier and Jean-François Crevier revealed this Tuesday the name and visual identity of the team. It will be the Montreal Roses. In the logo, we find the abbreviation MTL as well as FC. A team that relies on red and blue for its main colors, “the symbol of our diverse cultural heritage shared between Quebec and Canada”.

In France, the entrepreneur Isabèle Chevalier is particularly known for having participated in the M6 show “Who wants to be my partner”.

“We started this process almost a year ago with our creative agencies Cossette and GRDN, and with a clear vision: to become the team of all Montrealers. Over the past year, numerous interviews were conducted with people from diverse backgrounds, well beyond soccer fans, in order to gather a global and informed perspective. explain Isabèle Chevalier and Jean-François Crevier, co-founders of the Roses of Montreal.

To support the creation of this new team and grow the business, Isabèle Chevalier and Jean-François Crevier surrounded themselves with other investors like the former sprinter Bruny Surin and former footballer Patrice Bernier. Other investors such as Sylvie Bovet, Eddy Jr Savoie, Mark Pathy, Coralie Beauchamp, LCI Éducation, Josée Perreault, Malek Chamoun, Christiane Germain, Caitlin Rose, Julie du Page, Isabelle Éthier and Maxime Crépeau have also joined Rose MTL FC.

Among the first partners of the Roses de Montréal, we find Fasken, METRO and Collège LaSalle – Member of LCI Education. The Director of Partnerships for the Roses of Montreal will be Baptiste Robert who was notably Director of Partnerships for the Montreal Alouettes American football team playing in the CFL.

Annie Larouche was named President of the Roses and the Sports Director is Marinette Pichonformer French international.

After CF Montreal in MLS, the football offer will therefore expand in the Canadian city which vibrates especially to the rhythm of the Montreal Canadiens (NHL).

NSL – A new 6-team league

In addition to the Montreal Roses team, the Northern Super League (NSL) or “Super Ligue du Nord” in the French-speaking version will bring together teams from Calgary, Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.

The league founded by Diana Mathesonappointed Christina Litz as President this summer. For the moment, broadcast agreements have been signed with Bell Media and CBC/Radio-Canada.

The founding partners of the NSL are the Canadian Tire, DoorDashthe Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) et Air Canada.

A Canadian league which therefore wishes to be a lasting part of the landscape of professional women’s club football alongside the NWSL (USA) or the Arkema Premiere League in France.
