Montreal now have five straight victories in the playoffs after ending up in a 1-3 defeat in the match series against Toronto.
After three straight victories against the Maple Leafs, they have started the match series against Winnipeg with two straight victories, where the latest came during the night towards Saturday Swedish time.
That in a match where goalkeeper Carey Prices blocked his bag again and countered all the 30 shots he received.
– The guys did a fantastic job in front of me, it was a pretty complete team effort. We played well on both sides of the puck. We make smart decisions and help each other all over the ice, Price tells NHL.com.
And when Price did not let a puck pass him, it was enough with Tyler Toffoli’s delicious 1-0 goal in numerical disadvantage at the beginning of the second period.
A goal that means that the Canadiens have now gone up in a 2-0 lead in the match series.
– When we stood there with our backs to the wall, I think we all looked at ourselves in the mirror and realized that we can do much better. It did not end like that, not this season. We have been through a lot and we are a tight group, there is good energy in the locker room, says forward Philip Danault.
