Montpellier: the couple sold new Ikea furniture under the cloak

At the end of several months of police investigation, a Montpéliérains couple was referred this Friday July 10 before the parquet floor of Montpellier for breach of trust and concealment.

The investigation begins with a strange discovery by a manager of the Ikea Montpellier brand. A complaint is lodged with the central police station after it realizes that small clever ones publish classified advertisements of sale of products of Swedish brand still wrapped and visibly new. The bargains were distributed via Snapchat accounts. It was last December. Observation of these profiles revealed that the containment had put a stop to this traffic before resuming at the end of the traffic restrictions.

Allegedly damaged products

After a lot of investigative work, the police managed to identify suspects, namely a couple from Montpellier. He, already well known to the police and justice services with a long history, deliveryman by profession had succeeded in devising an effective ploy. Working for a subcontractor for the company specializing in home equipment, he claimed at the time of delivery that the products ordered were damaged. Thus, he put them aside for his profit to resell them to individuals, delivered by hand to Monpellier. The customer then made a good faith complaint to the parent company which again delivered the ordered lot to him, without asking any questions.

€ 10,000 profit

Unmasked, the couple was arrested on Thursday July 9 and placed in police custody. They, according to the investigators, acknowledged the facts by explaining that the objects were well degraded. Which was clearly not the case. In a box belonging to the couple, a hundred articles were seized. The damage is being assessed by Ikea, but the respondents have admitted that they have drawn € 10,000 in profit since the start of the scheme.

Both were referred this Friday, July 10 for immediate appearance Monday, for breach of trust, concealment but also carrying a prohibited weapon for sir. During a search, a charged 357 magnum was discovered in a bag belonging to it. He admitted that it belonged to him but refused to say more about its origin.
