The Montpellier Metropolis is one of the 35 global biodiversity hot spots. The diversity of the territory’s ecosystems is home to an exceptional biological diversity. ” This strong biodiversity present in the territory of Montpellier is a definite asset for this territory, and we owe it to ourselves to protect it. This issue is an integral part of the Territorial Coherence Scheme (SCoT). ” highlighted Isabelle Touzard, Vice-President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, Delegate for Ecological and Inclusive Transition, Biodiversity, Energy, Agroecology and Food, and Mayor of Murviel-lès-Montpellier. It is therefore because they are concerned about preserving these ecosystems within the framework of their ecological and solidarity transition policies, that the City and Metropolis of Montpellier signed, Thursday November 4, 2021, an agreement with the CEFE of Montpellier, one of the most important ecological research units in France, a multi-year agreement covering the period 2021-2026 allowing the creation and animation of a network of reflection and actions bringing together these three parties.
