The University Hospital Center (CHU) de Montpellier and the Medical School mobilize in favor of organ donation by officially launching the movement #1KmPourLaVie. The Tuesday November 21, 2023of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.the Gui de Chauliac, Saint Eloi, Lapeyronie, and Arnaud de Villeneuve Hospitals will welcome the general public for a day full of events.
The operation 1KmPourLaVie offers an innovative way of raise awareness about organ donation by inviting everyone to share their consent on social networks. Just dedicate 1 km traveled during a physical activity and publish a photo with the hashtag #1KmPourLaVie. This inclusive movement extends to all sports, whatever the level.
A day of awareness
The November 21stand associative village will stand in front of the entrance to Gui de Chauliac, bringing together associations dedicated to donations such as AFFDO, InfoDon34, France ADOT34, LanguedoCoeur, Renaloo, and France Rein. To begin, a 1 km educational route, symbolizing the path of donation, will begin at the fresco recognizing organ donors created by Franck Noto.
Also, challenges et initiations, including a single-wheel challenge, a smoothie bike workshop, and the presence of food trucks will be on the program for this day. Finally, inspiring meetings with committed athletes like Alexandre Allain, double-lung transplant recipient and author of the book “A Breath of Hope”, as well as representatives of associations of patients with kidney and heart disease, will reinforce the message of hope and mutual aid.
Evening of exchanges and debates
In the evening, at 6:30 p.mthe New Faculty of Medicine will vibrate to the rhythm of testimonials poignant moments of transplant recipients and donor families. Personalities such as Sylvain, heart transplant recipient, Grégory, liver transplant recipient, Ludovic, kidney transplant recipient, and Alexandre, double-lung transplant recipient, will share their experience, accompanied by medical experts from the University Hospital. Montpellier sports ambassadors from the 1KmPourLaVie association, including Romain Didelot, Séverine Beltrame, and Clara Lemaire, will also be present to encourage dialogue and commitment to organ donation.
1KmPourLaVie at the 20km of Montpellier
The Sunday November 26the 1KmPourLaVie association will actively participate in 20km from Montpellierbringing together a team of nearly 50 runners proudly displaying the colors of the association. It is still possible to join this team and thus carry the values of donation during this race by registering on the siteusing the password “ribbon”.
