After Gaël Montfils in 2020, who will win the Open Sud de France? (©OSF)
The draw of theOpen South of France was performed this Saturday at noon at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier. Four players from qualifying, which will take place on Sunday, will join the main table. Note the last-minute absence of French Richard Gasquet, three-time winner of the tournament.
The four seeds Roberto Bautista Agut, David Goffin, Dusan Lajovic and Hubert Hurkacz are exempt from the first round. In the first part of the table, the French Ugo Humbert and Gilles Simon will have to avoid the traps of Norbert Gombos and Dennis Novak to reach the next round.
The other four French are in a second part of the picture seeming more raised. A match will oppose two tricolors since Lucas Pouille, winner in 2018, will face the young Nîmes Benjamin Bonzi, invited by the organizers.
Another winner of the tournament, in 2019, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, back to competition after more than a year of absence, will have to be wary of Sebastian Korda. The 20-year-old American stood out last year at Roland Garros where he climbed to the round of 16 after coming out of qualifying. In good form at the start of the season, he entered the top 100 recently after his victory in the challenger tournament in Quimper.
