Three police custody at the Montpellier police station, this Sunday (© Metropolitan)
Two participants in the anti-sanitary pass demonstration in the streets of Montpellier, Saturday, were arrested for violence against mobile police. A third was wanted. They are still in custody at the central police station this Sunday morning.
5,000 people
About 5,000 people anti sanitary pass and anti vax (6,000 according to the organizers, 3,700 according to the prefecture of Hérault following the counting of the territorial intelligence police, RT 34), demonstrated on a route defined and imposed by the prefect of Hérault, from 2:30 pm. A resurgence of demonstrators as everywhere in France, undoubtedly linked to the shock sentence of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on the unvaccinated. On previous Saturdays, they were only 400 to 600.
Incidents
Incidents broke out in front of the prefecture, in the Ecusson, where the police (national police and mobile gendarmes) were forced to use tear gas following provocations and throwing projectiles to repel aggressive sanitary blockers. One of them who reached a mobile gendarme by throwing a bottle was identified, followed discreetly, then arrested in the evening, far from the procession which had just dispersed, to avoid a riot. The mobile gendarme lodged a complaint.
Research Sheet
A second troublemaker suffered the same fate: identified for having committed light violence, he is also in police custody. In addition, a protester who was checked had a judicial research sheet and was therefore taken to the police station. Finally, a bay window at the Saint-Roch SNCF station, on the Parvis Maguelone / République side, was deliberately broken with a hammer, without the author having been found for the time being.
