Montpellier HB’s Lucas Pellas Shines in 35-29 Victory Over Ivry in Starligue Match

Lucas Pellas (Montpellier HB)

Five matches took place this evening in Starligue for the 16th day. Four of them led to an expected result. Paris pulverized Chartres at Coubertin (44-30). Nantes spoiled the carnival evening in Dunkirk by beating USDK (23-29), while Montpellier seriously took the upper hand over the eye-catching Ivryens (35-29). Saint-Raphaël also performed well against Saran. It was therefore only in Aix that we had a surprise: the red lantern Dijon overthrew PAUC (33-34).

Dijon got off to a good start to their second part of the Starligue season. With only 4 points in their bag after the first leg, the promoted team were last in Starligue with 4 points. This evening, they still occupy 16th place but have grabbed 2 more points thanks to their second victory. They stick to 1 small point from Saran and Créteil and 3 units from Ivry. It is therefore a valuable success in terms of accounting and for the confidence that the Burgundians went to conquer in Provence.

Wassim Hellal and Lucien Auffret, all in control

Wassim Hellal was great in goals. The goalkeeper made 45% saves (14) but also two assists, enough to serve as a launching pad for his teammates. The latter managed to gain the upper hand over the PAUC by being inspired offensively. Jules Lignières, Steeven Bois and Pierrick Naudin knew how to bring danger to the back base, whether by scoring or serving their teammates. On this subject, recruit Edgar Dentz seems to have made his mark and was well found by the Dijon collective (6/9).

In a close match, Dijon took the upper hand at the end of the match, based on experience, one could say. Aix will undoubtedly regret the last stammered attacks, leading to loss of bullets or shots stopped by Gaspar, who came to relay from Hellal. The coin could indeed have fallen on the right side for the PAUC. It would not have been stolen for Romain Lagarde (6 goals) and his teammates. But it is Dijon, with courage, which achieves the feat and offers itself the right to legitimately dream of historic maintenance (33-34).

Saran does not cope with the shock against Saint-Raphaël

In the fight for maintenance, Saran also had an opportunity to carry out a great operation in the South. In Saint-Raphaël, Jérémy Roussel’s men started the match well (2-5, 9th). Unfortunately for those promoted, the locals quickly put out the fire and then took the upper hand for a long time. In the wake of a clinical Marescot shooting (6/6) and the stainless goal machine Caucheteux (also 6 goals), the Varois offered a solid game. They widened the gap before halftime (19-13, MT) and will seriously maintain this lead in the second half (33-28). This victory allows the SRVHB to move away a little from Aix and Nîmes in the ranking and to settle in, continuing from Toulouse in 5th place.

Paris, Nantes and Montpellier had a rather peaceful evening. At Coubertin, Paris corrected Chartres, notably with 9 goals from Jakob Holm. PSG provided an impressive performance in the first half (27-13), leaving Chartrains helpless. The capital club ultimately won 44-30.

In Dunkirk, Nantes took a little time to warm up the machine but ultimately managed this perilous outing in the North rather well (23-29). Even if the USDK, in the wake of Kragh (9 goals) came back within 10 minutes of the end (22-23, 53rd), the H stunned their host with a scathing 6-0 for ‘offer this important success (23-29). Nantes was able to count on a good game from Aymeric Minne (6 goals and 11 assists).

Remi Desbonnet (Montpellier HB)

Montpellier, for its part, knew how to be patient to get rid of Ivry. Didier Dinart’s men held out for around forty minutes before losing to MHB (35-29). In his goals, the European champion Rémi Desbonnet turned the match around by winning in the second act (15 saves). Offensively, the Hérault public was able to appreciate the return of Stas Skube to the lead who knew how to be effective in shooting and passing, in particular for Arthur Lenne (6/6). Finally, the tanned at the Euro Lucas Pellas did a lot of good for the brand with 9 goals. On the Ivryen side, Zaepfel and Ooms gave a lot on both sides of the field (8 goals each). But in vain. Ivry did not manage to repeat the feat of winning in Hérault, like 4 years ago.
