The father-in-law and the mother of a 5-year-old boy were referred this Monday, September 27 to the Montpellier prosecutor’s office, for an immediate appearance.
Suspected of violence against a minor, a mother and her new companion were arrested by the national police on Friday, September 24 at around 7 p.m., at their home on avenue de Lodève in Montpellier.
Multiple bruises on the back
That day, in fact, this Georgian’s 5-year-old boy had exhibited a strange behavior in his kindergarten, which had prompted the teaching staff and the principal to ask the school doctor to examine him. It emerged that he suffered from multiple bruises on his back.
If it could not be examined by a forensic doctor in view of his state of shock, the only observation of the face of the small victim made it possible to reveal bruises and scratches dating from a few hours but also older injuries. Pending further further examination, the child was placed on an interim foster care order.
He refuses to be heard
For their part, his stepfather and his mother were arrested, placed in police custody and referred to the prosecution on Monday, September 27, for an immediate appearance. Heard, his mother refuted any violence on his part and assumed that the same was true for his new companion, however qualifying his remarks by explaining that she was not at home all the time. On the other hand, she was unable to give tangible explanations for her child’s injuries.
For his part, the stepfather locked himself in his silence, refusing to be heard.
