Montpellier: 5th edition of the What A Trip Festival, “we will take you to the four corners of the world”, from September 20 to 26

The Montpellier International Travel and Adventure Film Festival will celebrate its fifth anniversary next September.

“5 years for an association like ours, made up of nearly 180 people entirely volunteers, that represents a lot, we managed to put together in the space of 5 years, a professional event to the measure of our expectations and which succeeded in finding its public […] we are going to celebrate together the 5 years of What A Trip ! Heyme Festival, from September 20 to 26! “, explains all smiles, Romain Tarrusson, President of the AFIVAM association, organizing association of the Festival.

Thursday June 17, shortly after noon, the organizers of the What A Trip Festival animated in the heart of the courtyard of the Musée Fabre, in the company of the Mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse and the President of the CCI Hérault, André Deljarry, a press conference to present, all at the same time: official selection of films in competition, jury, films programmed as part of the OFF of festival with ABM, programming of photo exhibitions, novelties and celebrations linked to the 5th anniversary. Overview.

“This year, more than the others, we will take you to the four corners of the world” – Romain Tarrusson

This year among the many themes surrounding the five awards, we can find a world champion in paragliding aerobatics and his acolyte flying over the high Himalayan mountains, a teacher accompanying a family of nomadic Bakthyari shepherds in their spring transhumance in southwest Iran, or a couple of adventurers crossing the world’s longest road by bicycle, “scanning” the American continent from Alaska to Patagonia through the mountains.

Six out-of-competition “favorites” sessions will be rescheduled for the festival’s five years.

In parallel, as part of the OFF ABM, the festival will offer a selection of 5 travel and adventure films in the privileged setting of the Musée Fabre room, Saturday September 25.

Like every year, a “travel village” will be organized throughout the festival, What A Trip! and at nightfall, festival-goers will be able to meet in front of the “P’tite scene” of What A Trip! for a series of free concerts. More than 15 photo exhibitions will also be organized in the Hérault capital.

The complete program is already online on watmontpellier.fr. For its part, the ticket office will open at the end of August 2021.
