Montmagny: indicted and imprisoned after the murder of his wife


He had strangled his wife during an argument Sunday evening before taking refuge with his neighbors. A 55-year-old man was indicted on Tuesday evening at the end of his police custody for acts of murder by spouse and was placed in pre-trial detention, said the Pontoise prosecution on Wednesday.

No records or complaints of previous domestic violence

His death was pronounced around midnight. Two children aged 3 and 6 were sleeping in the next room and apparently heard nothing.

“From the first elements of the investigation, it appears that no report had reached the police or justice services concerning the situation of this couple”, thus specified the Pontoise prosecutor’s office, indicating that no handrail or complaint relating to previous domestic violence has not been found.

The two minor children were temporarily placed in Child Welfare Services and were taken care of by the pediatric service of the hospital.
