Montluçon’s Gendarmerie School Students Join National Holiday Parade on Champs-Elysées

There will be a bit of Montluçon next July 14 during the traditional parade on the Champs-Elysées. For the first time since 2014, 75 students from the eighth company of the gendarmerie school will parade alongside other troops for the national holiday. An important appointment for these future soldiers and their school, so needless to say that we prepare it with the greatest meticulousness.

Since last Monday, everyone has been on deck at dawn for life-size training on the runway at the Villars aerodrome in Domérat. “They must manage their good alignment in the columns. In the rows. They must watch the position of their arms, their weapon, keep their heads straight…” explains General Laurent Vidal, who commands the gendarmerie school.

The student gendarmes retained (75 out of the 120 in the company) will parade over 3.5 km in close order. Hence the interest of a specific preparation.

Valentin Roux attended one of these rehearsals yesterday.
