Montluçon: two off-duty police officers recognized and attacked in the street

A group of young people attacked two off-duty police officers in the street at the end of last week in Montluçon (Allier).

Two off-duty police officers were attacked in the street by several individuals who would have recognized them, on the night of Thursday March 2 to Friday March 3, in Montluçon (Allier). Around 1 a.m., the two officers were attacked by a group coming out of a bar. They were hit several times.

A police crew passing by the scene of the attack to go to an intervention was able to intervene quickly and help their colleagues. Four arrests were made, reported The mountain.

Three aggravating circumstances

The public prosecutor of Montluçon, Loïc Eyrignac, told CNEWS that two have no criminal record and two others are known for traffic offenses. He said that three of them are implicated, aged 20 to 24 years. They are prosecuted for intentional violence aggravated with incapacity not exceeding eight days.

Three aggravating circumstances are considered: the violence was carried out in a meeting, in a state of manifest drunkenness and on persons holding public authority. One of the individuals is also being prosecuted for “meeting theft”, the prosecutor told us. One of the police officers attacked had his jacket, cell phone and keys stolen, according to our colleagues.

The defendants were presented to the prosecution this weekend and placed in pre-trial detention pending their judgment in immediate appearance, which is to be held this Wednesday, March 8 at the criminal court.
