Montluçon to Invest in New Athletics Stadium at Pierre-Dupont Site

The good news was announced this morning to the clubs concerned and confirmed this afternoon during a press conference around Frédéric Laporte. Montluçon community will invest in the construction of an athletics stadium. It was the site of the Pierre-Dupont stadium, at the foot of the Bien-Assis district, which was chosen to host it.

Given the state of disrepair of the current track in Saint-Jean, this infrastructure was (very) long awaited by athletics and triathlon clubs du pelvis. In January, on our antenna, the leaders of Montluçon athletics were annoyed by the situation, while major investments had at the same time been announced for the construction of a tennis center.

Finally, this tennis center – which must finally see the light of day in Saint-Jean – will wait a little longer (2025 and 2026 are mentioned). And it is therefore the infrastructure dedicated to athletics that will benefit from it. The choice by the com’ d’agglo of the Pierre-Dupont site for an ex-nihilo creation rather than a renovation in Saint-Jean will speed up the process. Work could start in September 2024 for delivery in December 2024 or early 2025.

This stadium will therefore have a track with six lanes on the bends, and eight on the straights. A small stand will also be built. As a result, one of the current football fields will disappear in Pierre-Dupont. Without major consequence since the restructuring of the Saint-Jean site plans to create an additional one. This second part of the overall project also includes the construction of four indoor tennis courts, two indoor paddle courts and four outdoor tennis courts.
