Montluçon Gendarmerie Dismantles Counterfeit Product Network Suspected of Defrauding for More Than 23,000 Euros since 2016

A network of counterfeit products was dismantled by the gendarmerie of Montluçon, in Allier. Four people were arrested and are suspected of having defrauded for more than 23,000 euros since 2016.

The investigation began in June 2022, it took almost a year of investigations for the Montluçon gendarmerie brigade community to dismantle the network. A network of counterfeit products that has been raging since 2016 in the Montluçon region. A total of 290 pairs of fake Nikes, 62 fake Lacoste tracksuits, fake sweatshirts and polo shirts as well as luggage storage were seized, i.e. around fifteen brands such as Kenzo, Sergio Tachini, Louis VuittonDior and Givenchy. The damage amounts to nearly 23,000 euros. Among the four accused, there were two women and two men, aged between 26 and 50 years old.

At the same time, they had set up another business. “The four respondents had created a non-profit association for underprivileged children, explains Squadron Leader Linda Blazing. They advertised to organize lotteries in favor of the association in the communes. They were raising funds, but none of them were going to theassociation ». About thirty lottos have been organized in the Montluçon region since 2016, when the association was created. “The defendants are prosecuted for possession of goods under a counterfeit brand, for sale of counterfeit goods, fraud, concealed work and false declarations to obtain subsidies”adds Squadron Leader Linda Blazing. A man and a woman have also been prosecuted for CAF and tax services fraud since 2017.

“This is the first time that we have had a network of counterfeit products of this magnitude in three years. But it is done more and more with the Internet, delinquency is more important, especially with networks of counterfeit products “.
The four suspects are summoned to the Montluçon court on June 14.
