The company Quaterback, organizer of the Masters of pétanque, has just unveiled the program for the 2021 season. It will not be the same as that of the 2020 season which had been purely and simply canceled due to the health crisis linked to the pandemic of Covid-19.
Montluçon, third stage
Montluçon, which was to host the seventh and final stage last year, on September 24 and 25, 2020, just before the final oven scheduled for Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, is once again in the game.
The best players in the world are expected on July 21 and 22, 2021 in the city of the banks of the Cher. This will be the third stage after those of Saint-Tropez (June 23 and 24) and Romans-sur-Isère (June 30 and July 1).
Four cities have chosen to join the adventure of the Masters of pétanque for the first time this year and offer exceptional sites: the harbor master’s office in Saint-Tropez, the Rotonde in Thaon-Les-Vosges (July 28 and 29 ), Île du Gaou in Six-fours-les-Plages (August 11 and 12) or the banks of the Saône in Trévoux (August 18 and 19).
Philippe Suchaud, the “Monsieur Masters”
On August 24, 25 and 26, the pétanqueurs meet in Nevers, which has already hosted the competition on several occasions. The location of the final four, which brings together the top four teams ranked in points after the seven stages, has not yet been revealed. It will be held on September 8 and 9.
Which teams?
To know the eight teams involved, you will have to wait a bit. Last year, the Montluçonnais, Christian Fazzino, was to team up with the Marseillais Mickaël Bonetto, Jérémy Fernandez and David Riviera.
The Cosnois Philippe Suchaud, record holder of Masters victories with eight titles, was associated with Dylan Rocher, Philippe Quintais and Stéphane Robineau. But that was before the coronavirus.
