Sergio Canales is now a new player for Rayados del Monterrey and his arrival in Liga BBVA MX has provoked innumerable opinions both for and against.
One of the first to thoroughly analyze the signing made by the Monterrey team was Andre Marín, owner of La Última Palabra and who left a fine point to consider with the adaptation of Spanish to Mexican soccer.
“He is a very good footballer, until a few days ago he was a Spanish national team. The only thing pending for me is the fact that they have operated several times on the cruciate ligament and that is to attract attention, but Monterrey did it ”, mentioned the also presenter of FOX Sports Radio.
“Congratulations to Tato Noriega and all the people who work with him for making possible (the signing of) this great player for Rayados del Monterrey,” added Andre Marín.

THE EXORBITANT AMOUNT PAID BY MONTERREY FOR SERGIO CANALES
For a club in the much-criticized Liga BBVA MX to ‘steal’ its best player from one of the most traditional teams in Spanish soccer is something extremely unusual that can only be achieved with a lot of money on the table at the time of negotiation.
That was how Monterrey was the only way in which Monterrey could get the services of a footballer who, at the time, was signed by José Mourinho’s Real Madrid due to the incredible potential attributed to his talent on the pitch.
And although he never made that leap in quality to place himself at the level of the most dominant midfielders in European football, Sergio Canales did build a successful career within Iberian football that had its icing on the cake at Real Betis Balompié, entity for which he played the last five seasons and with which he won the Copa del Rey 2021/22.
For this reason, and according to information from our reporter Sergio Treviño, the Rayados had to pay a figure close to 10 million euros for the 32-year-old player, who also signed a three-year contract with the Monterrey team.
