Monterrey kicks off flu vaccination day

Monterrey.- The Government of Monterrey started the influenza vaccine day.

This campaign will be installed in four points of the city: the gym Filiberto Sagrerozone Country, Monterrey Theater 400 and the Spanish Park with drive-through and pedestrian mode.

According to the Mayor Adrián de la Garza, the plan to administer 1,500 vaccinations per week for the next month and a half, including doses against COVID.

“We are going to try to apply 1,500 vaccines every week, at least in the next month and a half or so. Vaccination is also being implemented for COVID.

“There are doses for COVID and it can be applied as well, but right now, our focus is the flu issue,” he said.

The free service is prioritized to serve the most vulnerable population, who older adults and children under the age of five. Those who are interested should appear at the nearest module. The police and traffic workers will also receive the vaccine.

“We have been in various discussions, with state and federal authorities, (…) to be able to get more vaccines and reach the largest population,” said Adrián de la Garza.

From October 15, the Secretariat of Health of Nuevo León began the vaccination campaign for the winter season 2024-2025targeting only boys, girls, older adults, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and health workers.

Among the doses mentioned, the measurement of pneumococcus is also considered, and it can be applied in various health centers and medical units such as the IMSS, ISSSTE, Sedena and PEMEX.

The flu vaccine is aimed at girls and boys aged 6 months up to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days of agewhile the level of Covid-19 must be applied after 12 months from the previous dose; For girls and boys it applies from 5 years of age.

And pneumococcus applies to adults older than 60 years and girls and boys from 2 and 4 months, with consolidation at 12 months, and if there is a delay, up to 4 years old.
