Montech. Public meeting: health at the heart of the debates

During Thursday’s public meeting, Laurence Cohen, PCF senator from Val-de-Marne, and Marie Piqué, vice-president of the Occitanie regional council, guests of the Jourshappy 82 committee, were welcomed by Catherine Philippe, first secretary of the PCF 82. The two elected officials made a precise statement of the current situation in terms of public health and proposed the solutions taken up by their presidential candidate, Fabien Roussel.

Laurence Cohen described this presidential campaign “as very difficult, in a social context with declining purchasing power, the problems of daily life and the difficulties of getting treatment. Medical deserts are no longer found only in rural areas but everywhere, even in big cities. Health is not a commodity, we must change the governance of hospitals by creating a collective with decision-making power including caregivers, users, elected officials”.

Marie Piqué goes in the same direction: “Health and employment are the two major subjects for the French at the moment. The problem is that the bed closures force those furthest from hospitals to be taken care of after hours. journey, and unfortunately it’s sometimes too late. We have, with Fabien Roussel, the solutions to this problem, because there is money.”

A nice exchange followed the speeches of the two elected officials.
