The statistics on blood collections have fallen. Montech’s collections, at Laurier Hall, are essentially the same in 2022 as in 2021.
You should know that, over the last three years, the Montech Association of Volunteer Blood Donors has seen 685 donors pass through, knowing that a donor comes several times a year to give blood during the 6 organized collections.
In 2022, 567 potential donors came to collections in Monaco (582 in 2021) and 508 were collected (524 in 2021). The number of new donors is encouraging, even if it seems low, 36 first donations have been recorded.
The vast majority of donors only come once a year, ie 215. 65 of them took part in two collections, 33 in 3 collections and 12 in 4 collections.
People no longer donate blood from the age of 35/40 (75%), only 25% of donors are under 35.
“Blood donation is a process by which a blood donor volunteers to have blood collected which will be kept in a blood bank before transfusing a sick person during a blood transfusion, specifies Dominique Mosoll, the president of the Montech’s blood donors. Every day, we need blood to support a woman giving birth, a road accident victim, a cancer patient. The voluntary and benevolent act of donating blood is therefore irreplaceable. You are irreplaceable!”
To donate blood, there are several possibilities, either during collections in your municipality, or at the EFS of Montauban, house of donation, 10, rue du Docteur-Alibert in Montauban.
