Monte Patria school delegation made an educational visit to the Faculty of Art

A delegation of 40 students from the Cerro Guayaquil School of Monte Patria arrived, last Tuesday, November 5, at the offices of the UPLA Faculty of Arttrip designed in the context of the educational and pedagogical visit prepared by the career of Bachelor of Art for the students of the commune of the Coquimbo Region.

Around nine in the morning the delegation, led by four teachers from the areas of music, dance and visual arts, was received by the dean Alberto Madrid Letelier, who valued this bonding activity in the sense of strengthening ties between UPLA students and the educational community of Monte Patria. “We are convinced that this experience will be highly enriching for everyone and we deeply recognize the opportunity to share our academic and creative environment with you. We also value the effort that the delegation made in traveling to Valparaíso since dawn,” he said.

After this activity, the students of the Province of Limarí and guided by the Bachelor of Art academic, Mario “Paté” Ibarrathey carried out a guided tour of the facilities of the Faculty of Arta transit that allowed them to explore the workshop spaces of the different artistic disciplines taught, thus learning about the educational and creative process of the institution. Additionally, added the visit to the Central Libraryto observe “State of the Art”, an exhibition that brings together the works of twenty artists from the university.

Subsequently, they were invited to participate in a pedagogical musical presentation by students of the Pedagogy in Musical Education careerunder the direction of Professor Ricardo Lobos. They were also part of the screening of the audiovisual work “Poor Animations”a proposal made by students of the Expression Workshop of the Bachelor of Art degree. This presentation not only showed the creativity of the students, but also allowed visitors to appreciate the artistic process behind each animation, fostering a dialogue about the importance of graphic expression in artistic education.

The educational and pedagogical visit of the students of the Cerro Guayaquil School culminated with a interactive presentation directed by academic Juan Zúñigawho presented an immersive, performative, visual and sound space. This space was installed and operated by advanced students of the careers of Bachelor of Art and Pedagogy in Plastic Arts, where visitors explored visual, sound, multimedia environments and learned about the production of educational and cultural content in our Faculty.

Mario Ibarra Catalán, in charge of the linkage activity, highlighted the role of the Faculty of Art and its long-standing relationship with the Monte Patria community, which has led it to carry out artistic residencies for three consecutive years in educational spaces in the northern town, with the active participation of students and academics from the Bachelor of Art degree. “These residencies have not only allowed our students to apply their artistic knowledge in a real context, but have also fostered cultural exchange and collaboration with the local educational community, thus enriching the educational experience and promoting the development of artistic projects that reflect the identity and needs of the population. For this reason, these types of initiatives are essential to strengthen the links between academia and society, creating a positive impact that transcends the classrooms,” added the UPLA artist.

Furthermore, Ibarra emphasized the importance of this type of activities to foster interest and motivation in young people. “By integrating students into dynamic and collaborative activities, we seek to inspire their creativity and help them visualize the possibilities they have within the artistic field. Each visit is an opportunity for them to feel part of a broader process that goes beyond classrooms and books, connecting them with the reality of the artistic world,” he concluded.
