She brings back two gold medals in the Tarn et Garonne. The shop manager Sweet Delights at Montauban, Carol Bertrandwas doubly crowned during l’Italy International Cake Showan international competition for cake designa culinary art that consists of creating cakes with a spectacular physique.
Two gold medals
This great meeting of cake design took place at Rome (Italy) from Friday September 24 to Sunday September 26, 2021. The cakes were made before the event.
Faced with 150 competitors, the Frenchwoman was able to seduce a panel of judges from all over the world (Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Brazil, etc.) in the “Wedding cakes” and “Painting on cake” categories.
She makes a cake inspired by Ratatouille
In the “Painting on cake” category, the Montalbanaise made the difference with a cake inspired by Ratatouillethe Disney cartoon.
The work required no less than 50 hours of work. Carole Bertrand modeled all the elements in sugar paste: from Rémy to the vegetables (peas, corn, etc.) via the pot. She also painted Linguini and the Gusteau logo on the back of the cake with the wall effect.
15 hours to make the wedding cake
For the “Wedding cake” category, it was her creation that received the judges’ favourite. In total, Carole Bertrand will have put 15 hours to accomplish it.
It must be said that this dessert does not lack work (and originality!): the bottom of the cake with a frilly effect, the 2e floor with a bronze crackle effect and for the 3e floor, an opening effect with modeling of a black rose in sugar paste.
Building on these successes, Carole Bertrand and her team are preparing to open two new Sweet Délices stores at 2e quarter of 2022. The first will take place in Cahors (Lot) and the second in Martinique.
