The municipality of Montauban is currently carrying the elevator replacement project
of the Pont des Consuls. The creation of this new facility, replacing the existing very dilapidated one, should make it possible to improve accessibility between the upper town and the
old suburbs located below.
The existing elevator has been stopped for several months for technical reasons and, in view of
Due to its obsolescence and the high cost of repair, the city decided not to repair this equipment, preferring to schedule its total reconstruction.
The project provides for the creation of a battery of duplex elevators, in particular in order to prevent maintenance operations, without downtime, and to meet the volumes of
daily trips.
The future elevator shaft will be separated from the rampart wall, with sober and closed writing in order to integrate and enhance a strong heritage context. The development of the surroundings in the lower part will allow accessibility for people with reduced mobility while meeting regulatory requirements related to fire safety.
The treatment of accesses will also encourage the use of the equipment, by working on visibility, lighting or even by protecting users in the event of bad weather.
Finally, the project aims, in a circular economy approach, the use of re-used materials for the realization of the facades of the future equipment.
The amount of the work is set at € 620,000 excluding tax, not counting the services related to road equipment (street furniture, parking, traffic, street lighting).
Work is scheduled to start next May, for delivery in
December 2022.
