The Société de Sciences Naturelles de Tarn-et-Garonne is a naturalist association, created in 1951. Pierre Sieurac has chaired it since 2012, surrounded by 11 members of the board of directors and more than 150 active members or sympathizers. How do you cope with the current situation?
Our activities have been hampered by the health crisis. However, by focusing on individual activities, we are continuing inventories, surveys and monitoring. On the other hand, we can no longer offer field trips or activities and our ornithological observatory in the heart of the reserve at the confluence of the Tarn and Garonne is closed.
Do you have any plans?
One of the flagship projects of the SSNTG will be to expand its naturalistic activities in the years to come. Indeed, we wish to become a departmental referent for local authorities, decentralized State services, other associations. We wish to bring our field knowledge, our technical expertise and our global and pragmatic vision to better understand the biodiversity of our beautiful department.
What are your wishes?
May Nature regain its central place, and may Homo sapiens be the main actor in rediscovering biodiversity. It’s his only long-term future.
