If Prosper Mérimée, to whom the Moissagais owe the restoration of the cloister, were still alive, there is no doubt that he would appreciate this annual meeting between the French and their heritage. The one that the Tarn-et-Garonnais have so well preserved, beyond the vagaries of history, is full of majestic buildings, such as the Notre-Dame de Lapeyrouse church in Lafrançaise or the old town hall of Saint-Antonin, almost a thousand years old, and small treasures such as the baroque church of Lachapelle in Lomagne or the washhouses of Valence-d’Agen, which must be taken the time to discover this weekend in the four corners of the department. To discover or rediscover its heritage is to reopen a page of history, often known but too often forgotten. In Montauban, we celebrate with great pomp this weekend the 400th anniversary of the siege of the city by the royal troops … a spirit of resistance, that of the 400 blows, marked forever in the pink bricks of the city of Ingres, in particular those of the Saint-Jacques church. In this double page, we guide you to great encounters in the four corners of the department.
In Montauban, a rich program
Septfonds evokes the conquest of the air
For the European Heritage Days, Septfonds decided to focus on the theme of the conquest of the air in the 1930s and more particularly on the feat of the child of the country Dieudonné Costes who was the first, with his mechanic Maurice Bellonte, to cross the Atlantic non-stop in the direction of Paris New York. A vast program is therefore planned from Saturday with the opening of the exhibition “the aces of war” at 5 pm at La Mounière followed by a conference by B. Bacquié at 6.30 pm at Florida in the presence of Marie-Eve Breguet, granddaughter of Louis-Charles Breguet, major aircraft manufacturer, founder of Air France. Sunday, you can spend a day around exhibitions, speakers and associations which will end with a rather special show retracing the departure of mail at the time of the Aéropostale, by the company Spirit of Gandalou (from Castelsarrasin) which will give spectators the opportunity to write a letter with postcards, envelopes and stamps bearing the effigy of this feat and which will be sent by a Breguet 14. In order for this event to be accessible to all, possibility of a PCR test on square.
A sound and light for the 50 years of the Chasselas AOC
In Moissac, heritage days go hand in hand with the Chasselas festival, a gastronomic heritage that is the pride of the Moissagais. This year, “Moissac fruits et saveurs” is therefore offering an exceptional edition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of obtaining the Controlled Designation of Origin, and the 25th anniversary of the Protected Designation of Origin, of the famous golden grain. .
For the occasion, the organizers saw the big picture! If the formula remains the same, some new features are emerging. It is indeed on Saturday evening that the festival will reach its climax with a unique sound and light show, entitled “The odyssey of the Chasselas of Moissac”, and directed by Christian Salès. Between projections of animated images on the Moulin de Moissac, choreographies performed by costumed acrobats, and musical creation composed and performed by the Budapest orchestra, the public should be amazed.
A show that will be presented twice: at 9 pm and 10:30 pm To top it off, fireworks will be fired from the Tarn between the two performances of sound and light. An event not to be missed.
