On the occasion of the Youth Information Fortnight, which begins this Wednesday in the department, spotlight on the SIJ of Montauban, a free local service.
Nestled between the Bourdelle high school and the Ingréo swimming pool, the organization supporting young people aims to meet their demands. In particular thanks to several services and a documentary space: training, employment, Internet, daily life, Europe and International, or even leisure during the holidays.
Beata Righesso, facilitator at the SIJ (Youth Information Service) talks about her work: “When a young person enters our structure, it is impossible for him to leave without the information he wanted. We support him through the tools present on the SIJ, so that he can find answers to his questions. If we do not succeed, then we call on our partners.” Indeed, this structure has a network of professionals who support them. All these partners come from Tarn-et-Garonne.
A €1,000 scholarship with the IDJ
At the entrance to the establishment, young people are greeted by one of the four members of the team. The single room of the organization is divided into several spaces, for each theme. This allows young people to be easily directed to answer their questions. If looking for a job, for example, they can go to the center in question. For example, young people will be able to find information on creating a CV or have access to offers of “jobs”, commitments or civic service. Finally, there remains the possibility of using the computer tool present on site.
Beata Righesso specifies on this subject: “We dissect, with the young people, the information on the Internet, to then find the most accurate and direct it to the right people.” It is therefore a structure that accompanies young people from one end to the other in their quest for information.
In addition, if the person is between 11 and 30 years old, has a project, it is possible for them to contact the SIJ, which can support them in their efforts with the Departmental Youth Initiatives (IDJ). Thus, the SIJ guides can better structure the project, before presenting it to a jury. With the key, the possibility of receiving a scholarship of €1,000.
Support everywhere in the Tarn-et-Garonne
The Youth Information network is not only present in Montauban. Labeled Youth Information Points (PIJ) welcome young people in Beaumont-Lomagne, Castelsarrasin, Caussade, Labastide-Saint-Pierre, Moissac, Montech, Nègrepelisse, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, Valence-d’Agen and Verdun-sur- Garonne. These places offer the same information as the SIJ, but with different social and economic partners depending on the location. Just as leisure and holiday information may also be different from that offered in Montauban.
Note that the Youth Center offers help all year round, through various events and even via social networks. This service seeks to gain visibility among young people from Tarn-et-Garonne, in order to assist them as much as possible. In addition, several videos exist on the website, to present the structure. The opportunity to get an idea of what the SIJ looks like, as the Youth Information Fortnight opens this Wednesday, November 3.
