On November 5, 2021, at Montpellier (Herault), the Prime Minister John Castex unveiled State investments in health establishments in the region Occitania.
In total, more than 1.6 billion euros of investment are announced, as part of the Health Segurto support health and medico-social establishments in the Occitanie region.
These budgetary allocations may be supplemented by co-financing within the framework of ongoing consultations with the regional council and the departmental councils.
Five priority projects
Five priority regional health projects have been identified around the University Hospital of Montpellier (Hérault), CH of Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), CHs of Millau et Saint-Affrique (Aveyron) and the CH ofAlso (Gers) to which is added the CH of Tarbes et Lourdes (Hautes-Pyrénées) decided just before the Segur.
A completely rebuilt hospital in Montauban
“Beyond the CHUs, we will support the modernization of the local care offer by even rebuilding certain establishments which obviously deserve it. In particular, I want to mention three hospitals which will be completely rebuilt, namely, Millau-Saint-Affrique, Montauban and Auch”, declared the Prime Minister.
9.6 million euros
For the construction of a new hospital in Montauban, the State will pay a sum of 9.6 million euros. In reality, the announcement is not new. The Department had been informed in May that the project to build a new hospital in Montauban was on the list of projects selected under the Ségur de la Santé.
The project should probably be carried out outside the city. According to information from The Midi Dispatch, the future hospital should have 450 to 500 beds, compared to 300 currently. The project is estimated at 500 million euros and could be operational by 2029-2030.
Other construction sites
In addition, the State has also undertaken to financially support other projects in the Tarn-et-Garonne department. Nearly 12 million euros will thus be paid for the reconstruction project of a nursing home at Caussade and more than 6 million euros are earmarked for the reconstruction of theEhpad Arsenal of Montauban.
