Montauban. Children’s workshop at the Ingres-Bourdelle museum: Tuesday April 26, discover life on Mont Olympe

the essential
Tuesday, April 26, the mediators of the Ingres-Bourdelle museum invite children to discover an unknown painting from the MIB: “Jupiter asleep in the arms of Juno on Mount Judah”, a work by Jean-Pierre Franque.

The beginning of the year was an opportunity to highlight an unknown painting from the Ingres Bourdelle Museum: Jupiter asleep in the arms of Juno on Mount Ida. Presented to the public for the first time since it entered the museum in the 19th century, this painting by Jean-Pierre Franque has benefited from a very thorough restoration as part of the reopening. It has recently taken pride of place in the museum’s chapel (on the 1st floor), in the middle of the large 19th century canvases and the Salon painting. So that children can get to know it, the museum mediators offer to meet this work, whose mythological subject is one of the main sources of inspiration for writers and artists from Antiquity to the mid-twentieth century.

At the end of this meeting proposed on Tuesday April 26 at 2 p.m., the children are invited to a workshop, to discover the possibilities of tracing and then to use this technique to create a composition and imagine life on Mount Olympus. Public child 8-12 years old / 5 € on reservation.

Ingres-Bourdelle Museum (19, rue de l’Hôtel de Ville in Montauban), tel. : 05 63 22 12 91.
