Netflix is going to make a series about brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez, who were convicted of murdering their parents in 1996. It is the second part in the Monsterseries. The first part was about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story is like Dahmer created by director Ryan Murphy. According to Deadline does he have “exclusive access” to the brothers. They received a life sentence for shooting their parents in 1989. Lyle was 21 at the time, his brother was 19.
In November, Netflix ordered two additional seasons of Monster. At that time it was already announced that those series would also be about “monstrous figures who have influenced society”, but it was not yet clear who it would be. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story should be released in 2024.
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is one of the most watched Netflix series ever. Only the serials Stranger Things in Squid Game did better. However, not everyone was happy with the Dahmer series. Relatives of the victims would not have had a say. Director Murphy told that he had approached the next of kin, but received no response.
