It’s not often that a game can show some of its highest player numbers several years after its original release, but that’s exactly what happened with Monster Hunter: World.
To kick off the new year, Capcom’s action game has attracted the largest number of players on PC in over three years, and SteamDB reveals that the game had 136,187 players yesterday, January 1st. This is nowhere near the game’s top score on Steam, which was achieved at launch some six years ago, but it’s still an impressive achievement, especially for a title that debuted in 2018.
As for why the game has experienced this influx of players, it’s likely due to the recent sale where it was offered at one of the lowest prices ever, which combined with the recent announcement of Monster Hunter: Wilds likely led to many flocking to the game to try it.
Thanks, PC Gamer.
