Monsoon Spreads Throughout Kerala After Cyclone Biporjoy Intensifies: Meteorological Department Issues Warning

The Central Meteorological Department has said that the monsoon has spread throughout Kerala after Cyclone Biporjoy intensified. There is also a warning of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at isolated places in the districts except Alappuzha, Idukki and Kottayam. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places. According to the Meteorological Department, people are advised to evacuate and not go fishing as there is a possibility of high waves, sea storms and strong winds of up to 40 km per hour on the Kerala coast. It is also advised to avoid going to the beach.

Rains are likely in Kerala as the low pressure formed in the North East Bay of Bengal has strengthened into a very strong low pressure near the Bangladesh Myanmar coast. The weather forecast has also predicted that waves up to 3.4 meters high and storm surge are likely to occur along the Kerala coast.

There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in North Kerala. Yellow alert has been announced in Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Cyclone Biporjoy, formed in the Arabian Sea, is moving towards the coasts of Pakistan and Gujarat, the Meteorological Department said. There is also a warning that the wind will be strong again in the coming days. The Central Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon has spread over the whole of Kerala with the impact of the cyclone.
