Cáritas, December 2, 2022.- Monsignor Zornoza BoyBishop of Cádiz and Ceuta, has blessed, this morning, the new facilities of the Social Center «Father Francisco Almandoz» that Cáritas manages in the town of Chiclana de la Frontera.
The mayor of Chiclana de la Frontera, Jose Maria Roman Guerrerothe concilor Francisco Saladothe director of Cádiz Diocesan Caritas, Vicente Pablo Ortells Polo, the episcopal delegate from Caritas Silvio Bueno, the general secretary of Caritas, Jose Maria Espinaras well as parish priest, volunteers and technicians from Cádiz Diocesan Caritas.
The Padre Francisco Almandoz Social Center will host the set of the most significant action of Caritas in Chiclana de la Frontera. In one part of the facilities, the reception and social care of homeless people will be developed and in the rest of the premises, families with difficulties, unemployed people will be welcomed and accompanied and training actions for inclusion will be carried out. This device is conceived as an integral center that will give answers to the different realities of exclusion that occur in the locality.
In the act, he intervened, first of all, Vicente Ortells, who thanked everyone present for their attendance and stressed the importance of having decent spaces to accommodate people who are going through difficulties in their lives and who come to Cáritas for help. He has especially thanked the mayor for the support of the Chiclana City Council for the work of Cáritas in general and that of this center in particular. Ortells, has assessed «the importance of collaboration between the local administration and the Church, the importance of maintaining dialogue between all the agents that are present in the different territories. Only through coordination and the sum of efforts and resources can we face social exclusion«.
Then, Monsignor Zornoza He proceeded to bless the facilities and expressed his “joy for being able to continue offering hope and opportunities through Caritas to people who, unfortunately, are going through significant difficulties in their lives”.
After the act of blessing, the diocesan bishop, along with the mayor of the town, unveiled a commemorative plaque that commemorates this event.
For his part, the mayor of Chiclana de la Frontera, stated that “it is a source of joy to be able to support this center so that the people of Chiclana have the opportunity to receive professional and promotional attention that allows them not only to receive the fish but also to access to the cane that allows them to lead an autonomous life and in the exercise of their rights.
Once the event was over, the attendees were able to visit all the facilities and, later, they received information about the actions that take place in the center through the Cáritas agents who carry out their work there.
30 years of homeless campaign
To conclude, the diocesan director of Cáritas invited those present to discover the exhibition commemorating 30 years of homeless awareness campaign that has been installed in the main corridor of the center. Since 1992, these campaigns have the objective of making us aware of the serious injustice that is that there are people who do not have a decent home where they can develop their lives. The exhibition consists of the posters that have been the image in each campaign. In them you can see the images and messages that have denounced the harsh conditions of daily life for the homeless.
