Monotypie – TF35 Trophy 2023

gmoFebruary 14, 2023

Seven stages will be played in fresh water between May and September for the teams entered in the new edition of the TF35 Trophy. The 2023 season will start on May 18 on Lake Geneva and end in mid-September on Lake Garda.

“After two seasons, the teams have acquired experience and stored up a great deal of knowledge of their boats,” comments Bertrand Favre, class director. The crews are seasoned and the level of the fleet is more and more homogeneous, which will certainly make the regattas even more intense. For this third edition, we have opted for a 100% international lake program! »

The opening of the season will take place from May 18 to 21 at the prestigious Société Nautique de Genève, the largest nautical club in Switzerland, which has just celebrated its 150th anniversary. It is also under the flag of the Société Nautique de Genève that the winner of the TF35 Trophy 2022, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, challenger for the 37th America’s Cup, sails.

Then it is in Mies, with the support of the Club Nautique de Versoix, that we will find the t-foilers on June 2nd and 4th. Realstone will organize the second edition of the Realstone Cup for Léman hope there in order to support the Léman hope project and young people in cancer remission. At the same time, Realstone will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the creation of the sailing team Realteam Sailing.

The same weekend, Saturday June 3, the TF35s will take part in the Genève-Rolle-Genève, the circuit’s first long-distance race. If the conditions are right, the TF35s could complete the course from the Yacht Club de Genève to Rolle in just over two hours.

On Saturday June 10, the TF35s will line up at the start of the 84th edition of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud alongside some 500 boats. They will be keen to take their revenge on 2022, where Team SAILFEVER finished second after 2:22 p.m. of the race. To do this, you will have to thwart the pitfalls of this mythical race and find paying options throughout the 123 kilometers around the lake in order to win this Lake Geneva classic.

The fifth stage of the Championship will bring the class to Nyon. The TF35 Nyon Cup will be held from June 22nd to 25th off the charming town of Vaud and its famous Lake Geneva Museum. The long summer days will offer great afternoons of racing and, no doubt…beautiful evenings!

After the summer break, the boats will head to Italy, to Malcesine. Considered one of the best sites in the world for foiling, Lake Garda offers flat water and 15-20 knots. An exceptional mountainous setting in which the last two meetings of the 2023 season will be held, organized by the Fraglia Vela Malcesine. First the TF35 Malcesine Cup 1, from August 31 to September 3, then the final, the TF35 Malcesine Cup 2, from September 14 to 17, where the winner of this third edition of the TF35 Trophy will be crowned.

Bertrand Favre concludes: “We are delighted to start a new season and to find this big family that is the TF35 Trophy. A new team is joining the fleet for the 2023 season, so we are also looking forward to welcoming new faces to this competition. »
